Today we visited London’s incredible Gingerbread City! I was intrigued when I learned of its existence a few days ago and knew we must visit immediately! London’s top architects have designed an incredible city of gingerbread! In addition to touring this incredible spectacle, visitors could also attend Gingerbread House Making Workshops or shop the small gingerbread shop located there.
The Museum of Architecture hosted The Gingerbread City for the second consecutive year as an exciting fundraising exhibition that challenges architects, urban planners, and landscape designers to design an entire city made from gingerbread.
MoA built upon the success of last year’s exhibition by inviting both emerging and established architecture practices to submit entries based on Tibbalds Planning and Urban Design masterplan. MoA will award three prizes based on expert committee review as well as popular vote.
Today we visited Gingerbread City. We were taken aback when we saw what we found – buildings made entirely out of gingerbread decorated with icing and sweets! It was stunningly beautiful, with each detail lovingly cared for in every building we saw; my favorite being this small scene with Dutch houses all beautifully decorated.
The Gingerbread City was open between 6th – 22nd December 2017 at 27 Thurloe Street in South Kensington, London.
